Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Spring Vegetable Garden

Well spring is about over and we are starting into the summer season. Some schools are out for the summer and some have a few weeks still. With that said it is time to start working in those gardens getting the flowers and veggies planted. Remember all the "hand" tools we use to use in our gardens? So many of the garden tools nowadays are power tools, but I like the good old fashioned hand tools. So let's take a look a some of the old tools we use to use. :)

First we have to turn the ground over from sitting all winter. We need a good shovel for this. Nenafaysattic has this shovel for that use.

Next we have to level the ground out so we need a rake for that. Remember these rakes that NakedBones has. :)

Now I use to (and mind you I said "use" too!) crawl around on my hands and knees to make the rows for the veggies seeds. I use to use these tools from HomageToJackVintage to do that job. How about you?

Now that all the seeds are planted for your vegetable garden you need to mark them so you remember what you planted because sometimes the veggies all come up looking the same. :)
TinyWhiteDogVintage has these really cute vegetable markers.

Now that we have had a look at the "old" way to prepare and plant your veggie garden let's get out there and get busy. :)

Happy gardening!

Colleen :)
